In the 19th and 20th century many people left Europe. They hoped for a better life in the United States.

It is known, that some members of the family left Prussia, but it is not known, where they lived in the United States, and whether there are any descendants.

This picture was made, when ‘Uncle from America’ visited his relatives in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century. Anne Marie Witte - the 9th girl from the left in the first row - could remember ‘Uncle’, but she did not know, where he lived in America. The exact relation to her father - Karl Heinrich Witte - is unknown too, maybe they were brothers or stepbrothers.

Nathan Dinsky

Nathan Dinsky came to the United States ‘at the turn of the century’. He lived in New York, where he worked as a shoemaker. With his wife Pearl he had 6 children.

It is possible, that there is a relationship to the family of Sigismund Dinski (1903 - 1943). Born in Janopol / Lublin, he came to Eastprussia with his family; they got Prussian citizenship and settled in Klein Rosainen (Niedergehren / Marienwerder). Some of his siblings went to Lower Saxony and Brandenburg.

If there is any connection to Nathan it must be a connection to Sigismund’s father Wilhelm (1847 - 1919) or grandfather Daniel (1816 - 1893).
